Single-day coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia rose to 728 on Friday, marking a sharp rise in the number of infections in the Kingdom, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
The health ministry announced eight more deaths from complications caused by COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 391,325 and the virus-related fatalities to 6,684.
The ministry also reported 404 recoveries over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 378,873.
The number of infections topped 300 in the Riyadh region for the time in many months with 338 new infections recorded on Friday.
The capital region was followed by the Eastern region with 114 cases and the Makkah region with 108 new infections.
The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with only three of them reporting less than 10 infections.
According to the ministry, there were 5,768 active cases and 735 of them were in critical condition.
According to the sources the authorities may impose strict lockdown allowing only essentials untill everyone or mass is not vaccinated.
