Everyone who writes or edits for GulfHindi.com is bound by this code. It sits alongside our editorial policy, which covers how we verify and publish.
Conflicts must be disclosed to the editor before publication. A writer with a personal, family or financial stake in a story does not write that story. Free travel, hospitality, gifts or equipment offered by a subject of coverage are declined; where something of value cannot practically be refused, it is disclosed in the article.
All work is original or properly attributed. Copying text, research or images without credit is grounds for removal of the article and termination of the contributor.
We would rather be second and right. No story goes out because a competitor has it if we cannot stand behind the facts ourselves.
Headlines must reflect what the article reports. We do not exaggerate a threat, inflate a number, or frame a routine administrative change as a crisis to earn clicks.
Confidentiality granted to a source is absolute. We do not identify a confidential source to anyone outside the editorial process, and we do not use material obtained by deception except where there is a clear public interest and no other way to obtain it.
We do not publish the personal details, images or medical information of private individuals without consent or a clear public interest. We take particular care with victims of crime, children, and workers whose immigration or employment status could be jeopardised by identification.
GulfHindi serves a religiously and nationally diverse readership across the Gulf and India. We do not publish content that incites hatred, violence or discrimination against any community, and we do not identify the religion, caste or nationality of a person in a crime story unless it is directly material to the facts reported.
We report in jurisdictions with their own media, defamation and cybercrime laws. Our reporting is truthful and evidenced; we do not publish unverified allegations about individuals, companies or states.
